Australian spin-off from BBC Studios and Red Planet Pictures drama begins filming
Return to Paradise, Australia’s spin-off from hit BBC drama Death in Paradise, has landed a second series with production underway.
Produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia and Red Planet Pictures for the ABC, the six-part whodunit drama will reunite audiences with Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson) who longs to return to the UK but is stuck in Dolphin Cove while dodging ex-fiancee Glenn’s upcoming wedding.
However, with no shortage of murders to investigate she has numerous distractions with challenging mysteries to solve. Lloyd Griffith and Tai Hara are among returning cast.
Each episode also features a host of guests including popular Australian screen stars such as Danielle Cormack, Meyne Wyatt, Roz Hammond, Justine Clarke, Michelle Lim Davidson and Greg Stone.
Adral O’Hanlon, the former star of Death in Paradise, will also return to reprise his role as Jack Mooney.
Return to Paradise is commissioned by the ABC in association with the BBC, with executive vice president and general manager of global entertainment at BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand promising “intriguing, entertaining mysteries with a distinctly Australian twist that have been enjoyed by audiences in 99 countries around the world.”
The series will also air on BBC iPlayer and BBC1 in the UK.
The series is co-created and executive-produced by Peter Mattessi, James Hall and Robert Thorogood. Di Haddon is producer.
