Two Cities Television, As I Am Productions and Keeper Pictures behind US detective series The Yank
RTÉ has commissioned a six-part crime thriller from Blue Lights producer Two Cities Television that follows an NYPD detective who relocates to Ireland.
The Yank is also from As I Am Productions and Keeper Pictures (The Gone), with Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager, Orange is the New Black) and Colm Meaney (Gangs of London) starring.

The series is set on the west coast of Ireland and stars Mulgrew as a seasoned detective who takes a career break in Ireland after a traumatic incident in the US.
Expecting a change of pace, she is unexpectedly pulled into a murder investigation and a thrilling hunt for the killer.
The show marks writer Eithne Verling’s first TV drama script and was created specifically for Mulgrew after the pair had a chance meeting in Galway while the actor was on holiday.
Filming has begun in the Connemara region of County Galway, with John Connors (The Gentlemen), India Mullen (Normal People), Cillian O’Sullivan (Daredevil: Born Again) and Jack Rowan (A Town Called Malice) also attached.
The Yank is produced in partnership with Fís Eireann/Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán and uFund, and in association with ITV Studios, which sells outside of Ireland.

It was commissioned by RTÉ head of drama, David Crean, who exec produces for the broadcaster alongside acquisitions and copro chief Dermot Horan, with Screen Ireland’s Kate McColgan also attached.
Directors are Joe Lawler and Christine Molloy (Kin), and director of photography is James Mather (These Sacred Vows).
Crean said the drama would showcase “the very best of Irish talent” while Verling described the series as “the intriguing and unexpected story of a woman who has nothing to lose, and her obsessive attraction to what lies beneath.”
Stephen Wright, Two Cities Television and Jonathan Arun, As I Am Productions, said Verling and Mulgrew had “shaped a compelling character-led drama set against a rugged and beautifully atmospheric backdrop.”
Yvonne Donohoe, executive producer and creative director of Keeper Pictures, added: “The Yank depicts the beauty of the landscape of Connemara in contrast to the often-dark deeds of the humans who haunt her shores.”
RTÉ debuted more original Irish drama than ever before in 2025 with more than 142 hours of local storytelling premiering.
