Banff adds Succession creator to line-up
Succession creator Jesse Armstrong, Henry Winkler and Georgie Holt, chief exec at FlightStory, are among high-profile additions to the line-up for The Banff World Media Festival (Banff) next month.,
Armstrong will take part in a session moderated by CBC Q’s Tom Power, while Holt will discuss the evolution of creator-led studios and Steven Bartlett’s hit Diary of a CEO podcast.
A special In Conversation with Henry Winkler, tied to his work with A+E Factual Studios and his Hazardous History series on History, has also been lined up alongside other speakers including Allied Global Marketing chief Adam Cunningham.
The 47th annual Banff World Media Festival will take place 14–17 June at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
Adam Collings exits UKTV after a decade
UKTV’s director of programming for factual and factual entertainment Adam Collings has left the company after more than a decade, Broadcast can reveal.
During his time at UKTV, Collings has ordered series including Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over and Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake.
Collings’ departure comes as the BBC Studios-owned company restructures its programming team, and follows on from senior commissioner Kirsty Hanson, who is also exiting after eight years.
The rejig will see UKTV’s three genre-based head of programming roles streamlined into scripted and unscripted programming directors, with the latter uniting comedy entertainment and factual under its remit. Read more
Name That Tune returns to UK
ITV is reviving classic US musical guessing format Name That Tune with Alison Hammond at the helm to test the public’s knowledge.
The format is currently on its fifth revamped series in the US on Fox, produced by BiggerStage, which is partnering with the newly formed ITV Studios label Bright Entertainment to adapt the title for the UK.
Name That Tune challenges music enthusiasts to guess the melody of a well-known song after hearing just a few short notes. The show first debuted in the UK in 1956, with numerous reboots in the intervening years. Read more
