BritBox’s Jon Farrar promoted

BBC Studios has promoted Jon Farrar to chief content officer, director-to-consumer.

The DTC business is made up of British-focused streaming service BritBox and documentary streamer BBC Select, both in North America. London-based Farrar will continue to oversee the supply of original productions to BritBox, while expanding his remit to expand BBC Select and BBC Studios’ DTC ambitions.

He joined BritBox in 2024 as executive vice-president of programming, going on to launch BBC Select and oversee the global editorial relaunch of BBC’s Branded Services portfolio. BBCS has also promoted New York-based vice-president of programming strategy, North America, Jennifer Moon to senior vice-president of content strategy, planning and acquisitions, direct-to-consumer.

In her new role, she will manage programming strategy and dealmaking for BritBox and BBC Select.

 

Little Singles prepped for TLC

TLC in the US is preparing to launch relationship show Little Singles on 15 June.

The series is produced by Shed Media and follows a group of little people as they date, connect and build community.

Reuniting in Palm Springs after first meeting at a Little People convention, the show tracks how their relationships develop.

New episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max the day after airing on TLC.

 

SPT, BritBox & UKTV tuck into Cadbury drama

UKTV, BritBox and Sony Pictures Television have co-commissioned a drama about the Cadbury family.

The trio are joining forces for six-part Chocolate Wars (w/t), which is inspired by Deborah Cadbury’s book and the true story of the chocolate company dynasty.

The drama is produced by Fable Pictures (Mr Loverman) in association with Alfresco Pictures, and is penned by Beyond Paradise writer Chloë Mi Lin Ewart.

The show, billed as a warm-hearted family drama, starts in 1860s Birmingham and tracks how two brothers went from underdogs in the cocoa world to creating the world-famous chocolate bar. SPT handles worldwide sales. Read more
