Hulu, Disney+ drama Furious lands S2 order
Elizabeth Meriwether’s drama Furious has been extended into a second season by Hulu.
The series follows an FBI agent (Emmy Rossum) who is on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating female serial killer (Lola Petticrew). Both believe in their own forms of justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.
Meriweather created, wrote and EP’d the first season, with Rossum attached as EP via Composition 8, alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead, and Sam Hoffman. 20th Television and Searchlight Television are producers.
The show, which is available via Disney+ outside of the US, has its first season finale on 31 August.
BET Studios shows land Paramount extensions
Paramount+ has extended a quartet of shows from BET Studios.
Greenlights for further 10 episodes have been handed to drama series The Black Hamptons (S3) and The Family Business (S7).
16-episode extensions have also been secured by Tyler Perry duo Divorced Sistas (S3) and Zatima (S6).
MipJunior unveils Disney partnership first
Disney’s children’s and family division has partnered with MipJunior for the first time, with execs including Ayo Davis among those set to appear at the October event in Cannes.
Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, will appear on stage on 11 October alongside colleagues including Disney Jr head of originals Alyssa Sapire, Charlie Andrews, exec vice president of live action.
They will discuss how the company creates stories and characters that connect with today’s audiences and build lasting fandom.
Disney Kids & Family produces content for preschoolers through to teens and families.
