Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has picked up its latest international format, this time an adaptation of Hasbro’s Trivial Pursuit.

The show will be produced by Satisfaction Iberia and is based on the Talpa Studios and Hasbro format based on the iconic boardgame of the same name.

The gameplay unfolds on a giant game board, where contestants compete by answering questions from different categories to earn wedges and reach the center before their rivals to win a cash prize.

The format debuted in the US on The CW last year and was extended into a second season in April.

Basque presenter Egoitz Txurruka will be in charge of hosting the Spanish version, which will debut on RTVE flagship channel La 1.

RTVE has become a frequent buyer of international formats as reported by Broadcast International earlier this week, with shows including US classic Jeopardy, ITV Studios show The Chase (aka El Cazador) and All3Media’s The Dog House among recent pick-ups.

La1’s line-up also includes adaptations of Talpa Studios’s The Floor (also from Satisfaction Iberia), UK duo The Great British Sewing Bee and MasterChef, and Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam (LACOproductora).

The next international format to roll out on the pubcaster is The Connection (Satisfaction Iberia), distributed by All Right Media.
