Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max and Asia-focused Viu have become the latest company’s to combine their offerings by striking a new bundling agreement.

HBO Max and Viu will become available via a single subscription that will be rolled out across Indonesia, Thailand, the Phillipines, Malaysia and Singapore in Q4.

Viu originals such as reality series Running Man will be on offer, alongside the streamer’s Chinese dramas including The Immortal Ascension and Korean series My Youth.

HBO Max shows ranging from The White Lotus and The Last of Us will be available from the WBD side, as well as the upcoming Harry Potter series and recent films such as A Minecraft Movie.

Janice Lee, chief exec of Viu and managing director of PCCW Media Group, described the pact as “an exciting step forward in our promise to continually enhance Viu’s entertainment options and meet our viewers’ evolving tastes.”

James Gibbons, president of WBD in Asia Pacific, added: “Following the proven consumer and business benefits of HBO Max bundles in other parts of the world, this new streaming offering will provide strong entertainment value for consumers across Southeast Asia, and help drive subscriber growth and stronger retention.

“With access to two complementary and world class collections in a single subscription, local fans can enjoy even more choice, from premium Hollywood movies and series to standout local Asian content.”

WBD has become a frequent collaborator with other media companies recently, notably striking a deal to offer HBO Max with Disney+ and Hulu in the US earlier this year. HBO Max launched in Asia in November.
