Warner Bros. Discovery streamer to hit 100-territory milestone by year end
Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max will be available in more than 100 countries by the end of the year, with a 14-territory roll-out in APAC slated for next month.
The streamer will be made available from 15 October in Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, alongside Myanmar, Nepal, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Soloman Islands and Timor Leste.
The move comes just two weeks ahead of the launch of It: Welcome To Derry on 27 October, a HBO original drama based on the work of Stephen King.
The series expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the features It and It Chapter Two.
The platform will also feature recent Hollywood hits including Superman, Sinners and Final Destination Bloodlines alongside original series such as House Of The Dragon, The Last Of Us, The Penguin and The Pitt.
JB Perrette, chief exec and president of global streaming & games at Warner Bros. Discovery, highlighted launches in Australia and Europe earlier this year in comments about the streamer’s reach.
“By the end of the year, HBO Max will be available in more than 100 markets,” he added, “with more to come in 2026, including major launches in Germany, Italy and the UK.”
WBD made headlines last week after reports that Paramount Skydance is exploring an acquisition of the company.
