Karin Lindström to oversee strategy and spending for US giant across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland
Warner Bros Discovery has hired former Amazon MGM Studios exec Karin Lindström to oversee programming in the Nordics.
Lindström, who will be based out of Stockholm, left her role as head of Nordic originals at Prime Video in August, where she was replaced by Emilia Widstrand.
Lindström’s new title - group vice president of programming for WBD Nordics - will see her lead strategy and budget planning on content, as well as overseeing programming choices for linear networks in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
She reports into WBD’s Nordic managing director and exec vice president Christina Sulebakk, and will join the regional management team, working with originals chief Pil Gundelach.
Lindström will take up the role at the end of September and said her focus would be on “all aspects of content consumption” to inform programming choices.
“With WBD’s powerful storytelling, I look forward to contributing to continued commercial success and engaging broad audiences across platforms,” she added.
Sulebakk described Lindström as “a highly talented and experienced industry executive who, in her new role, will focus on developing and implementing our content investment strategy, while optimising the performance and positioning of our linear channel portfolios.”
WBD started ramping up its Nordic originals again last year, having pulled out of original programming for HBO Max in the region in 2022.
The company hired former Showmax executive Allan Sperling and has also picked up shows from SF Studios in Denmark for Max, including thriller Kingmaker.
