European film and TV fund IPR.VC has promoted London-based Andrea Scarso to managing partner and made a number of senior leadership changes, as it looks to expand its content investment strategy.

Scarso joined Finland and the UK-based IPR.VC in 2023 as partner and investment director and leads the firm’s UK operations. He was formerly senior investment director at Ingenious Media.

IPR.VC founder and long-standing managing partner Timo Argillander is transitioning into the role of full-time executive chairman with a focus on long-term growth and portfolio development.

Group CFO Joonas Pönniö has also been appointed chief operating officer at IPR.VC, which has slate deals with companies including A24, XYZ Films and mk2 Films.

The current chairman of the board and founding partner, Tanu-Matti Tuominen, will continue as a board member and take responsibility for the company’s investor relations, marketing, and communications. Tuominen also serves as chairman of IPR.VC investment committee.

“2026 will see us doubling down on demonstrating that content financing can be executed responsibly, efficiently and at scale with creative companies whose portfolios span auteur-driven cinema, premium television and, from this year, next-generation content creators and distribution models,” said Scarso.

“Our investment strategy will continue to be defined by premium IP, strong creative ownership, and international scalability - no better illustrated than by the reception Marty Supreme has already enjoyed.”

Investment plans

IPR.VC has raised significant capital across three funds from institutional investors, pension funds, family offices, and non-profit sector investors with its most recent Fund III standing at €104m.

It has financed over 60 film and TV productions through slate deals with US and European studios, including A24, XYZ Films, mk2 Films and Red Bull Studios.

IPR.VC-backed titles include Marty Supreme, on which Scarso and Argillander both serve as executive producers, as well as fellow A24 titles Materialists and Eddington.

IPR.VC has also invested in forthcoming TV crime drama Hildur, distributed by Cineflix Rights and co-produced by Take Two Studios for Nelonen Media’s streamer Ruutu and Sagafilm for Simmin. Other projects include Hallow Road, Ash, Get Away, Mile End Kicks from XYZ Films, Gentle Monster, Deli Love and Love Is Not The Answer from mk2 films.

The European Investment Fund also committed €25m to the company’s most recent alternative investment fund in February 2025.

“Our mission has always been to be the company that understands the creative process and can help bring quality curated stories to global audiences, while providing institutional investors not only with returns and fast distributions, but governance, structure, cultural relevance and a long-term perspective,” said Argillander.

“Continuous renewal of how we operate is central to that ongoing promise, and these changes equip us for what promises to be an increasingly active and diverse next phase of content investment.”
