MobLand showrunner preps Paramount+ Scottish dynastic drama

Paramount+ has ordered a dynastic drama set in the Scottish Highlands from the creator of The Agency and MobLand showrunner Jez Butterworth.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and LA-based 101 Studios, Laird will see Kenneth Branagh play a proud Scot, the Laird of Castle Drummoch, who defies an American billionaire who wants to buy up his ancestral lands.

The full team of creators comprises Butterworth and his brother John-Henry Butterworth and writer and producer behind The 100, Georgia Lee. Pride & Prejudice, The Agency and Mussolini: Son of the Century director Joe Wright is attached to helm the pilot.

Branagh will exec produce alongside the Butterworth brothers, 101 Studios’ David C. Glasser and David Hutkin, Wright, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Charles Finch and Keith Cox.
