June market had traditionally focused on the CEE market

NATPE Budapest’s 2026 edition has been axed, with the chief exec of parent company Brunico pointing to the “continued proliferation of industry markets in Europe” as a key reason.

The event has traditionally run in June and focuses on the CEE market but Canada-based Brunico said it would instead be focusing its efforts “on the continued development” of flagship North American market, NATPE Global in Miami.

Brunico chief exec, Russell Goldstein, said the decision to pause the event reflected the changing entertainment industry globally and an ambition to “create scale” with its Miami event.

“For the past three years we’ve deeply appreciated the CEE’s support for this market,” added NATPE executive director, Claire Macdonald.

“We are proud of the programs we’ve been able to produce in collaboration with our industry partners and hope to continue those relationships as we focus on NATPE Global.

“I would like to acknowledge our deep gratitude to the advisory board members who have shared so much of their passion for the region and industry with us.”

NATPE Budapest is the second European event to be cancelled this month, with organisers of Sunny Side of the Doc confirming last week that its 2026 edition would not happen.

Brunico acquired the NATPE brand and events in 2023 after the organisation faced financial difficulties.

NATPE Global runs 4-6 February in Miami.
