US broadcaster NBC is in development on a local version of primetime gameshow Win Win!, marking the first international deal for the format fresh from its commissioning by ITV.

The US show will be produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS) and Hello Dolly, which created the original and is the indie behind Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win for ITV1.

The format, which is distributed by UTAS sibling NBCUniversal Formats, sees 40 studio-based contestants battling it out with players at home on an app who answer questions based on a unique nationwide survey.

Every episode features multiple winners, building to a dramatic final episode where one contestant is guaranteed to win a jackpot.

The ITV show, unveiled in March, was commissioned with People’s Postcode Lottery in what the broadcaster called its “biggest ever ad-funded series”.

The six-part original reunites comedic pair Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins as hosts overseeing the large-scale interactive quiz, with a £1m prize.

Sharon Vuong, recently installed as executive vice-president of unscripted programming at NBC, described the show as “a fresh, high-stakes format that delivers on its name by giving viewers and contestants alike the chance to walk away winners.”

UTAS president Toby Gorman added: “This is exactly the type of format that defines our ambitions as a studio.

“It delivers on every level – irresistible gameplay, genuine heart and a unique viewing experience that will keep audiences on the edge of their seat.

“It has found its perfect home at NBC, and we are thrilled to be collaborating with our partners at NBCUniversal Formats and Hello Dolly to develop this series in the US.”

Hello Dolly co-founders Victoria Ashbourne and Stuart Shawcross said: “We’re excited to be working with UTAS to bring this unique, exciting format to US audiences.

“NBC has a great reputation for launching big, noisy, family-friendly shows, so Win Win! should fit right in!”

Broadcast International recently revealed UTAS is reshuffling its UK operations to focus on major commissions, with Made In Chelsea label Monkey retired.
