Format rights acquired in Brazil and Mexico to hit All3Media International format
NBCUniversal is taking The Traitors format into Latin America for the first time, after picking up local remake rights in Mexico and Brazil.
The deal was struck via distributor All3Media International and NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct To Consumer (NBCUIN & DTC) Latin America, which has acquired local remake rights in the two countries.
NBCUIN & DTC Latin America had previously picked up all three seasons of the US version of The Traitors for its audience in the region.
Today’s format deal means the well-travelled format has now been acquired in more than 30 territories, having debuted on RTL 4 in the Netherlands in 2021.
“With Universal+ Latin America already home of the US version of The Traitors across the region, these new adaptations will deepen the impact of Universal+ with audiences across the region,” said Khris Lorenzo, senior vice president of content and acquisitions at NBCUIN & DTC Latin America.
Yari Torries, vice president of LatAm & US Hispanic at All3Media International, said the Lat Am remakes would offer “dramatic, addictive and immersive versions” of the show.
The format was created in the Netherlands by IDTV, where it was known as De Verraders, and developed by the All3Media-owned producer and POSVIDEO, in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit.
