Apple & Onion creator George Gendi behind eight-part comedy

Netflix has expanded its adult animation offering with a show from George Gendi and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
Living the Dream follows two best friends, Des and Ray, who believe they should have made it big but are actually stuck doing social media for a green company called Ecofood.
The show follows their attempts to navigate awkward workplace romances, HR blunders, directives from the LA office and Ray’s dad’s disapproval.
The 8 x 25-minute show is being produced by Warner Bros Animation’s Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, with Ireland’s Boulder Media (Dangermouse) attached as the animation studio.
Writers are Phoebe Walsh, Ellie White, Joe Parnham, Joe Markham and Gendi (Apple & Onion, Gumball), who also exec produces and leads the voice cast.
Others include Javone Prince (PhoneShop), Julia Davis (Gavin and Stacey), Ali Shahalom (Muzlamic) and Tom Stourton (Stath Lets Flats).
Executive producers are Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons), Sarah Fell (The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball) and Daniel Lennard (The Amazing World of Gumball).
The series joins Netflix adult animations including Sony’s film Fixed, Adam Scott-voiced Strip Law, Ricky Gervais’s Alley Cats, Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s Long Story Short and Brutus Pink’s Mating Season.
Gendi said: “If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it. Anyway, let’s see if they let me use this one.”
