Netflix is expanding its Spanish slate with a scripted miniseries and a true crime documentary among new additions.

Lobo is a three-part drama from Celda 211 (Cell 211) producer Vaca Films and has been written by Alberto Marini and Juan Galiñanes.

The show is based on the real-life case of Manuel Blanco Romasanta, a traveling tailor who went down in history as Spain’s first documented serial killer in rural 19th-century Galicia.

During his trial, Romasanta claimed to be a werewolf, prompting a legend to be built around the killer. Luis Tosar and Tristán Ulloa star, with Alberto Marini and Javier Rodríguez Delgado directing.

The streamer is also expanding its true crime slate with Miguel Ángel Blanco: Las 48 Horas que lo Cambiaron Todo (Miguel Ángel Blanco: 48 Hours That Changed Everything), which is being directed by Jon Sistiaga and Juanjo López. Local production firm The Tintirin Team is attached.

The doc explores the two days that followed the kidnapping of Blanco by Basque separatists ETA in the 1990s, when millions of people took to the streets in an attempt to prevent his murder.

The show revisits the solidarity and compassion shown, as well as the repercussion of the events that continue to be felt today.

On the film side, En Nombre de Otro is a fast-paced thriller where nothjing is as it seems. Oriol Paulo directs and Juanita Films is producing, with shooting underway. The film stars Eduard Fernández, Mario Casas, Blanca Suárez, Nicolás Francella, and Alexandra Jiménez.

The three new titles were unveiled at an event in Madrid last week, which saw stars of upcoming series such as The Final Problem (Jose Coronado, Maribel Verdú, and Martiño Rivas) and Gracias, Equipo (Raúl Tejón, Blanca Martínez, and Maribel Verdú) taking to the stage.
