Michael Aguilar (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels) is also onboard as EP, alongside Davis and Julius Tennon for JuVee Productions.

The character-driven series is set in the world of global corporate crisis and damage control, with Davis playing an elite corporate fixer whose ruthless skills come in handy when her estranged daughter is in danger.

The series will premiere globally exclusively on Paramount+, joning other recent greenlights that include a Clueless sequel with Alicia Silverstone, Laird starring Kenneth Branagh, and 9/12 starring Jeremy Strong.

Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, described Davis’ character as “incredibly complex”, adding that “Viola is exactly the generational talent to bring her to life.”

Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television Studios, continued: “We celebrate bold, original ideas, and the icing on the cake is being able to shoot Ascent here at home on the Paramount Lot in Los Angeles.”
