Primal Media and Studio Lambert have joined forces to create a celebrity reality series for Hulu.

Competition format The Mob sees celebrities take part in gangster movie-inspired jobs to survive and hustle their way to win up to $250,000 in cash prizes.

The cast will include The Sopranos star Aida Turturro, alongside Willam Belli (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Demi Engemann (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives), Maria Georgas (Bachelor Nation), Joe Gorga (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Harry Jowsey (Let’s Marry Harry), Chelsea Lazkani (Selling Sunset), Debi Mazar (Younger), Bella Palk (Love Overboard), Shane Parton (Bachelor Nation), Romeo (rapper), and Bruno Tonioli (Dancing With the Stars).

As every mob family needs a don, the format will see whichever celebrity chosen given absolute power to decide who makes money, who stays in the competition and who ultimately gets whacked. The series will challenge players to see if the don can stay in control or if the family will rise up and overthrow them.

Produced by STV Studios’ Primal Media and the producers of UK and US hit The Traitors Studio Lambert, the exec producers include Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Niall O’Driscoll and Stephen Lambert for Studio Lambert.

The format was conceived by Adam Wood and Mat Steiner, who also act as exec producers for Primal Media along with David Mortimer, STV Studios chief executive. Primal Media’s Neil Kirby and Ben Riley also helped to develop the format.

Posey will also exec produce with Susan House as showrunner. All3Media America’s Justin Medeiros is across the series as the executive vice-president of production and Charlie Williams is the executive in charge of production.

“We love reality TV and the whole mafia genre. With The Mob we wanted to create an addictive format centred around the most powerful contestant in reality TV history. A world where charm, strategy, and survival instincts all collide,” said Wood and Steiner.

Burgess, president of Studio Lambert USA, added: “We’re happy to bring our expertise to Primal’s fun idea and Hulu is a great home for it.”
