Scripted series will be shot in Spanish-language

Spain’s Secuoya Studios has started production on an eight-episode romantic thriller starring Turkish actor Can Yaman (Sandokan).

Show creator Eduardo Galdo (The Crossroad) exec produces with Lele Portas (Heridas), while Ángela Obón (4 Estrellas) and Daniel Corpas (Cuando Nadie Nos Ve) penned the screenplay.

The show follows a secret agent with an impeccable record who is betrayed and becomes the most wanted man in Spain.

As he fights to clear his name and expose those behind a multimillion-euro theft from the state coffers, he finds out that love may be his greatest weakness or his only salvation.

María de Nati (Las Pelotaris 1926), Andrea Duro (La Favorita 1922) and Félix Gómez (La Promesa) are among cast. Broadcaster/streamer details have not yet been revealed.

The show joins a growing raft of projects at Secuoya Studios, which hired former Amazon MGM Studios exec Alfredo Bermúdez de Castro Berbel as its as its chief operating officer last month.

A month earlier, Secuoya hired Sony Pictures Entertainment exec Andrés Zamora to lead its sales arm.

The company has been looking to expand its reach over the past year via its PODS strategy, which sees scripted series, feature films, documentaries and unscripted formats being developed in multiple languages beyond Spanish.
