Maarten Meijs takes on expanded remit at John de Mol’s company with Talpa Network chief exec departing
The Floor producer Talpa Studios and sibling channels business Talpa Network are to be brought under a single management team led by Maarten Meijs.
The Talpa Studios boss will now oversee operations for both companies, which will continue to operate independently, with a remit across strategy and long-term development.

Joost Brakel is departing as chief exec of Talpa Network following a transition period, with Meijs working closely with CFO Guy Vossen and chief operating officer Barry Masclee.
Under the rejigged structure, Talpa Studios and Talpa Network will retain their own management and creative responsibility.
The Jon de Mol-founded company said the move would “bring clearer strategic alignment and faster decision-making across the organisation” and improve the development and launch of new shows domestically and then onto the international market.
“By aligning our leadership at group level, we build on a strong foundation while creating greater clarity and focus - fully respecting the independence of our individual companies,” Talpa said.
“This allows us to move faster, make bolder choices and further strengthen our creative and international impact. The Netherlands remains a powerful springboard for new ideas, where great ideas can evolve into globally successful formats.”
Talpa Network operates across television, radio, digital platforms and production, with a portfolio that includes national TV channels such as SBS6, NET5 and Veronica, the AVOD platform KIJK, radio brands and it in-house production and distribution infrastructure.
Talpa Studios will continue to develop its slate, which includes shows such as The Floor - sold to more than 30 countries - and The Quiz With Balls, The Tribute: Battle of the Bands and Caught In The Middle, all of which started out on SBS6.
