Authentic Prod also developing eight-part historical scripted series set in 1880’s Paris

TF1 in France has greenlit a drama about addiction from Authentic Prod, which has also started development on an eight-part historical series titled Lady Liberté.
À La Vie has been written by Sylvie Audcoeur and Martyne Visciano with Louis Choquette (Montmartre) directing.
It follows Fabienne, a maternity ward director forced to confront her alcoholism after a drink-driving accident, who meets a grieving mother and a young surfer in denial about his own addiction. The three lives collide as the trio look for redemption.
Lady Liberté, meanwhile, unfolds in 1880’s Paris and has been created by Marion Festraëts and Arnaud Malherbe.
The show is set during the construction of the Statue of Liberty, which was designed and built in Paris before being transported to New York.
The story follows a young Black American woman searching for her roots and an orphan who escaped prison and is driven by revenge. The duo meet and find themselves battling social barriers and conventions, as dark forces threaten the ideals the statue represents. No broadcaster or streamer is yet attached.
Aline Panel, chief exec of Banijay-owned Authentic Prod, said the shows were part of the company’s strategy to produce “emotionally engaging dramas” following Montmartre for TF1.
Authentic Prod was acquired by Banijay France in 2023 and is led by Panel, whose credits include Sam, Le Temps Est Assassin, and Je Te Promets, the French adaptation of This Is Us.
