Widow’s Bay and Studio Lambert land big wins at Emmys

Apple TV enjoyed a stellar night at the 78th Emmy Awards in LA on Monday night after Widow’s Bay took home six trophies including outstanding comedy series, while Studio Lambert’s The Traitors was again among the unscripted prizes.

UK star Matthew Rhys became the first person ever to win two lead acting awards as he claimed lead actor in a comedy series for the acclaimed Apple TV show, as well as the lead actor prize in a limited or anthology series or movie for Netflix’s The Beast In Me.

The Welsh star had previously won the 2018 lead dramatic actor prize for The Americans, meaning he is now the only male actor to win all three lead Emmys awards in his career.

Widow’s Bay’s haul also included prizes for Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root, who won supporting comedy acting awards, while Katie Dippold took the outstanding comedy writing trophy and Hiro Murai took the directing prize for a comedy series.

It took the show’s total Emmy haul to 14 awards following the creative ceremonies last weekend, while Apple TV also found success with Pluribus and Slow Horses.

On the former, Rhea Seehorn won the outstanding lead actress in a drama series prize and Vince Gilligan took the trophy for writing on a drama series, while Saul Metzstein landed the directing award for See-Saw Films’ Slow Horses.

Outstanding drama series went to HBO Max’s The Pitt, with the show’s star Noah Wyle taking the lead actor in a drama series award, and the Warner Bros Discovery streamer also found success with DTF St Louis picking up the limited series of anthology prize.

Peacock’s US version of The Traitors, produced by Studio Lambert, was the big winner on the unscripted side, taking home the outstanding reality competition program award.

It had already won six prizes at the Creative Arts Emmy’s last weekend, with Alan Cumming taking the host award and Ben Orchard taking the reality director trophy, meaning its total haul of seven beat last year’s total of five trophies.

CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was also victorious on the unscripted side, getting the nod for variety series.

Other scripted prizes were handed out to Jean Smart, who won her fifth Emmy in the outstanding lead comedy actress prize for Hacks (which she previously won in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025).

In the supporting dramatic acting races, Allison Janney won dramatic recognition for Netflix’s The Diplomat, and Tom Pelphrey earned the award for HBO Max’s Task.

Sally Field was named best limited or anthology series or movie lead actress for Netflix’s Remarkably Bright Creatures.
