Top Chef heads to Asia
NBCUniversal Formats has struck a deal that will see culinary format Top Chef heading to Mongolia.
The local version will be produced by Nomadia Pictures Producing and NTV Broadcasting, airinh weekly in primetime later this year on NTV, Univision, DDish and Look TV.
Top Chef features aspiring chefs as they face off in a high-stakes battle of skill, creativity and endurance.
The 14 x 60’ Mongolian adaptation marks the eighth NBCUniversal Formats title in the market and the fourth adaptation in Asia, following Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
First Day on Earth expands cast
Bukky Bakray (Rocks) and Rakie Ayola (Kaos) are among of raft of new cast members joining HBO and the BBC’s First Day On Earth.
The drama, created and written by Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), follows a British-Ghanaian novelist played by Coel who moves to Ghana.
Coel stars alongside Thandiwe Newton, Maxine Peake, Danny Sapani, and Ncuti Gatwa. Various Artists Limited produces.
Other new additions include Ama Serwah Genfi, Adam Lundgren (The Restaurant), Ray BLK (Champion), Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka), Dan Skinner (Litinenko), Daniella Arthur-Kennedy, Jameel Buari (Forever in A Night), Sam Delich (Territory) and Fisayo Akinade (Heartstopper).
Taskmaster lands bumper C4 order
Channel 4 has recommissioned Avalon format Taskmaster for a further six series over three years, Broadcast can reveal.
As well as series 22-24, the deal includes annual specials Taskmaster’s New Year Treat and Taskmaster Champion of Champions. It follows similar six-series deals in 2023 and 2019.
Greg Davies and Alex Horne will continue in their respective roles as the Taskmaster and his sidekick, wrangling a group of celebrities through a host of crazy tasks for the chance to be crowned Taskmaster Champion.
The reupped C4 deal will also see further full episodes head to the broadcaster’s YouTube channel for the first time for UK audiences. Viewers will also be able to stream full episodes of the New Zealand, Australian and Canadian versions of the show on YouTube channel as well as C4’s streaming platform. Read more
