Colombia-set The Escape to be sold by KI

Keshet International has picked up sales rights to action thriller The Escape (aka Ha’Bricha) ahead of Mipcom next month.

The 8 x 60-minute drama, commissioned by Keshet 12, is from Reisdor Productions and SE Film Productions, with a debut slated for later this year.

The story is set deep in the Colombian jungle and follows a family’s attempts to escape a fanatical ultra-Orthodox cult rules, which is thwarted by an alliance between its charismatic leader and a drug cartel.

Filmed on location in Colombia, Georgia, and Israel, the series stars Yehuda Levi (A Body that Works) and Mark Ivanir (Homeland). The Paz Brothers (Plan A) direct, with Ariel Cohen (The Golem) writing.

 

Talpa builds more Floor in Japan 

Nippon TV has ordered a full second of The Floor from John de Mol’s Talpa Studios.

The show debuts 21 October, with its launch following its March debut in Japan as a three-hour primetime celebrity special.

The deal marked the format’s first adaptation in Asia and the 30th territory to commission the show.

The Floor sees 100 quiz fanatics facing off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into one hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge. The goal is to conquer the entire floor and take home a huge cash prize.

 

Learning to Fly set for Prime Video

Prime Video is to debut sports doc Learning to Fly following its US theatrical run.

The 103-minute doc, from Unreasonable Studios and Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State, will make its global streaming debut on 24 September.

The doc follows former competitive runner turned photographer Aisha McAdams as she embeds with elite trail runners across two of the sport’s most punishing tests: the Western States Endurance Run in California and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in the French Alps.

The film is directed by Max Lowe (Torn, Camp Courage), with Evan Hayes (Free Solo) and Katy Chevigny (Dick Johnson Is Dead) producing. Ben Grayson, Kevin Joseph, and Andy Mininger of Wild State executive produce.
