Canal+ revives Kamoulox
Banijay Entertainment’s French label Shine Fiction has struck a deal with Canal+ to produce comedy series Kamoulox+.
Shine Fiction and France’s Les Molambakais produce, with Arthur Sanigou directing, while Kad Merad and Olivier Baroux are returning to host.
Kamoulox was created in the early 2000s and became a cult hit with absurd, fast-paced sketches parodying gameshows. The reimagined version for Canal+ will feature new unseen footage, original microdramas and new segments, alongside special guests.
Launched in 2021, Shine Fiction is behind Michel Bussi’s adaptation Rien ne t’efface (TF1), comedy drama The Family Detective (TF1) and Carême (Apple TV+).
Doha Film Institute moves development lab online
The Doha Film Institute (DFI) has moved its Qumra development lab to online-only, due to the ongoing war in the Middle East between US-Israel and Iran.
The programme will keep the same dates of 27 March to 1 April and will focus on private one-on-one mentorship sessions for the selected projects.
Qumra takes place in Doha’s central area, at the Museum of Islamic Art on the bay and in the nearby Msheireb district that was rebuilt for the 2022 football men’s World Cup.
The event hosts around 50 DFI-supported film and TV projects to meet with around 200 industry professionals, offering advice on projects at different stages of development and production.
