Sydney Sweeney launches Honey Trap with Sony
Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has launched her own production label with the backing of Sony Pictures.
Honey Trap, which has been revealed shortly after Euphoria completed its third and final season, is being led by Kaylee McGregor, who is president of production and development.
Sony has a first-look deal with Honey Trap. The US studio has previously with Sweeney on Anyone But You and the reboot of Barbarella. US trade Deadline broke the news.
Hello Sunshine exec joins Love
The Great British Bake Off indie Love Productions has appointed Hello Sunshine’s Sarah Lazenby as its creative director and Sky Studios’ Helen Northrop as its first chief operating officer.
Lazenby replaces Kieran Smith who left the indie earlier this year after nearly two decades.
It is the second major rejig to the senior team since Ralph Lee replaced Richard McKerrow as chief executive late last year, with manging director Letty Kavanagh also stepping down from the Sky Studios-owned label.
Lazenby joins from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine where she spent four years as executive vice-president, unscripted UK. Read more
UK’s 5 orders The Heights
Paramount-owned 5 in the UK has greenlit an adaptation of Louise Candlish’s novel The Heights from Clapperboard Studios, with Fox Entertainment Global handling distribution.
The six-part psychological thriller stars Anna Friel as Ellen, a working mum living in London whose family is pulled apart when her teenage son brings an unruly friend home.
Newcomer Kit Redding plays Lucas while Conrad Khan plays Kieran. Further cast include Diarmuid Noyes, Stephen Tompkinson and Mark Stobbart.
Louise Candlish exec produces, with Kate Croft and Mike Benson for Clapperboard. Emma Foley is producer. Simon Tyrrell (Maxine) is writing and Dominic Leclerc (The Teacher) directs.
