WBD’s DMAX in Spain makes Unthinkable move
Warner Bros. Discovery in Spain has picked up unscripted show Unthinkable from US-based unscripted producer and distributor Big Media.
The 10 x 60-minute series, which is set to premiere on WBD’s channel DMAX, explores extraordinary and often devastating events that altered the course of nations, institutions and societies.
The series is a co-production with RTL Deutschland’s free-to-air channel NTV.
Song Trip goes global with ZDFS
ZDF Studios has started international sales on Song Trip, a format billed as combining music, travel and cultural experiences.
The show is produced for ZDF by ZDF Studios affiliate Content Laden and follows well-known artists who travel to other countries and work closely with local musicians.
New soundscapes are created via the cultural exchange, with the encounters resulting in original reinterpretations of existing songs, which are performed in spectacular natural settings.
Song Trip debuted on ZDF last year and a second season had wrapped filming, with a TX in July planned.
S4C and ITV tie on first drama
A families-focused dark comedy series set in the Welsh city of Swansea marks the first partnership between PSBs S4C and ITV, Broadcast can reveal.
Produced by Y Golau/The Light in the Hall outfit Triongl, Santa Maria follows two families from different sides of the tracks whose lives slowly become entwined by the actions of ‘saintly but strung-out’ cleaner Maria.
The series will TX in Welsh on S4C in early 2027 before being broadcast in English on ITV and ITVX later that year.
Siân Reese-Williams (Y Golau/The Light in the Hall) leads the cast, which also includes Matthew Gravelle (Steeltown Murders), Hannah Daniel (Cleddau/The One That Got Away) and Richard Harrington (Cleddau/The One That Got Away), among others. Read more
