Nations League clash drew 35.8% share of 16-34 year olds
Channel 4 has revealed that its broadcast of Germany v England on Tuesday night drew a peak of six million viewers.
An average of 5.3 million were watching throughout as a late Harry Kane penalty cancelled out Jonas Hoffman’s earlier goal to see the Three Lions leave the Allianz Arena with a point for their Nations League group. They next play Italy on Saturday evening.
In addition, the match captured a 35.8% share of 16-34 year olds.
Channel 4 acquired the rights to England’s Nations League, European Qualifier, and friendly matches earlier this year, taking the Nations League free-to-air for the first time. IMG is producing the coverage from these games.
20 matches will be shown by the broadcaster between 2022 and 2024, meaning that every England match will be free-to-air in that time, as the BBC and ITV are showing games from the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
