Anthony Joshua to read CBeebies Bedtime Story

Anthony Joshua is among the famous names to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story over Christmas. 

Joshua will read the classic children’s book The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, on Thursday 22 December. The book is about a little boy named Peter who puts on his snowsuit and steps out of his house into a world blanketed in snow.

When the story was first released in 1962, Peter was among the first African-American characters to be featured in a major children’s book. Keats’ illustrations helped to pave the way for more inclusive and diverse children’s literature.

Joshua isn’t the only sport star to appear on the show this month, with rugby league legend Rob Burrow reading a story that aired on 3 December. Burrow, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2019, read the story using an eye-controlled computer that recreated his Yorkshire accent.

Joshua joins Kate Winslet, Richard E. Grant and Justin Fletcher and more in the lineup over the Christmas period.
