BBC Sport’s digital platforms have drawn millions of visits during the World Cup to date.

Over three million people went to the BBC Sport app on 17 June, its biggest day since 14 July 2024 - which combined both a Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic and England facing Spain in the final of Euro 2024. Its immersive 3D experience for fixtures, which you can read more about here, has also been used more than one million times.

In addition, the broadcaster’s highlights packages have been streamed 11.6 million times, a 197% increase on that Euro 2024 tournament, and the visualised Football Daily podcast is attracting over 100,000 views per episode with a peak of almost 250,000.

BBC Sport’s social media channels have attracted 235 million views, with Netherlands and Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk’s thoughts on the hydration breaks its best performing video with 13.1 million views alone.

iPlayer hasn’t been left out, with France vs Senegal becoming the biggest ever UHD event on the BBC at over 600k concurrent streams.

Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC director of sport said: “On top of the millions flocking to live games - even in the middle of the night - it’s fantastic to see the appetite for our on-demand World Cup coverage has sky-rocketed.

“Whether it’s our no-spoiler highlights, the visualised Football Daily podcast or our new shorts video tab, live pages and written stories, we are meeting audiences where they are, when they want.

“We’re delighted to see the influx of young audiences using our 3D tool and games alongside the loyal BBC Sport obsessives who are devouring cricket, tennis and more alongside the football.”
