BBC Alba will show 19, with BBC Sport to stream another 19

BBC Alba and BBC Sport will show 38 matches from Italian top flight football devision Serie A this season.
This builds on the deal between Alba and Serie A in the second half of last season, which saw the broadcaster air matches with Scotland players featuring in them. Scott McTominay, Lewis Ferguson, Billy Gilmour and others star in the division, and this summer has seen English players John Stones and Djed Spence join the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in Italy.
The new agreement will see BBC Alba broadcast nineteen live Serie A matches with Gaelic and English co-commentary, while BBC Sport will stream a further nineteen live matches on BBC iPlayer with English commentary. All matches shown on BBC Alba will also be available to watch on iPlayer.
Coverage begins on Sunday 23 August 2026 with Atalanta v Sassuolo, live from 7.35pm on BBC Alba. The rights are shared with DAZN and TNT Sports, and include digital clips for social media.
Alba’s coverage will feature analysis, reports and feature content produced by the broadcaster’s sports team in partnership with Sunset+Vine and BBC Sport.
BBC Sport will continue to bring additional content from Serie A which last season included a documentary for the BBC Scotland channel and iPlayer on Napoli’s McTominay and Gilmour.
Margaret Cameron, director of content at MG Alba, said: “MG Alba is delighted to continue bringing top-class European football to audiences on BBC ALBA following the success of our coverage of Serie A last season.
“It remains one of the world’s most exciting leagues and its appeal continues to grow among Scottish supporters thanks to the success of our players in Italy. This new agreement means fans can follow the stories, rivalries and key matches throughout the season, free-to-air and in Gaelic, while benefiting from the wider coverage available across BBC platforms.”
