It will broadcast 18 live games on linear and iPlayer
The BBC has revealed its broadcast plans for the 2022 edition of The Hundred.
After a successful first year, in which it broke viewing records for cricket in the UK, the BBC will be showing 18 live matches on BBC2 and iPlayer from 3 August. 7.9 million tuned into the BBC in total for the inaugural competition in 2021.
World Cup winner Isa Guha will lead the BBC TV coverage, alongside an expert line-up including Jimmy Anderson, Phil Tufnell, Carlos Brathwaite, Alison Mitchell, Alex Hartley, Henry Moeran and Aatif Nawaz. The BBC is also adding current Hundred players such as England men’s international Moeen Ali, which was announced earlier this year, and Chris Jordan, Chris Woakes, Dane van Niekerk, Mark Wood, Heather Knight, Ravi Bopara, as well as Steve Finn and Saqib Mahmood who both featured last year.
Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said: “It’s great to see the return of The Hundred and add to what has so far been an extraordinary summer of sport for the BBC. We can’t wait to deliver extensive coverage of this exciting event to audiences across all of our platforms.”
Reporter Chris Hughes will deliver special reports live alongside sport reporters Nicole Holliday and Betty Glover, and the Tailenders podcast will be back on TV with Jimmy Anderson, Greg James and Felix White offering their special take.
There will also once again be a music element to proceedings, with BBC Music Introducing and acts such as Bastille playing live from grounds and for audiences at home.
The BBC Sport website and app will also have daily coverage, including breaking news, daily live blogs, video match clips, the best of the action compiled in Plays of the Day, in depth written storytelling and analysis and audio commentary for every single match. There will also be content shared through social media.
