Footwork launches First Up: Football podcast

Footwork Media has launched First Up: Football, a daily ten-minute podcast covering major news from the sport. 

Hosted by Sammy James, who also presents fellow Footwork podcast Men In Blazers: Early Kick Off, First Up: Football will cover Premier League, Champions League, major European leagues and key international stories. It will be released overnight in the UK, Monday-Friday, with an audio version on all major podcast platforms as well as fully visualised on YouTube, TikTok and X. 

There will also be shorter clips released on Instagram. The first episode is available from today, 11 August, and you can watch it below. 

Footwork Media has funded the show itself, with a Substack set up for listeners to support the show through subscriptions. Subscribers will receive ad-free episodes, access to an exclusive Telegram group and a twice weekly ‘write-up’ newsletter. 

James said: “We’re so delighted to be back making a daily football podcast. We loved the audience that we cultivated on Early Kick Off and we were hugely grateful for the hundreds of messages we received when that show ended.

“We hope that First Up: Football can build up a similar community of football lovers. Currently, there is nothing in the football podcast market that succinctly breaks down all the latest news every morning and we really hope that this show keeps football fans up to speed, even if they are time-poor.”
