Goalhanger has released a film telling the story of its podcast The Rest Is Football to date.
The 11-minute behind-the-scenes film covers Gary Lineker’s first meeting with Goalhanger co-founder Tony Pastor to the podcast’s move onto Netflix for the 2026 World Cup. The show will now also return to Netflix for the Premier League season.
It features Lineker and Pastor alongside Alan Shearer, Micah Richards, Joe Cole and members of the wider Goalhanger team, and looks at the relationship between The Rest Is Football’s hosts and the creative process behind taking an established audio and video format onto a major streamer.
The film also examines Goalhanger’s wider evolution from television production company to podcast network, and how the business has built direct relationships with audiences.
