Tournament hosted by England gets underway on 12 June

The ICC has revealed its digital engagement plans for the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup, which gets underway on 12 June in England.

The federation claims that the tournament is set to be the biggest ever women’s sporting event for global digital engagement, with a number of new and returning strategies aiming to increase numbers.

These include a partnership with Roblox to create a Catch The Spirit experience in the platform. This builds on the ECB’s work with the gaming company to create a cricket world in its universe, and places players inside a fully branded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 stadium where they can compete in fast-paced catching challenges to earn points and unlock exclusive tournament-themed rewards. The games aim to encourage real-world participation as well as on the platform.

In addition, the ICC’s global creator programme, which was first created for the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup earlier this year, returns to give creators access to exclusive events, behind-the-scenes experiences and matchday activities.

The ICC app will house AI-powered stats companion ICC Insights again, with expanded women’s cricket data and analysis and the voice of former ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winner and broadcaster, Isa Guha.

Engagement will also be encouraged with fan votes for player of the match, and games being available in nine languages for the first time: English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Japanese, Thai, Dutch, Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia.

Every match will be in English and Hindi, with other languages tied to certain nations, for example Urdu coverage for Pakistan games and Bengali coverage for Bangladesh fixtures. These will be part of the world feed, produced by Sunset+Vine, and available on the ICC’s YouTube and Facebook channels in over 80 territories.

Sky Sports is showing the tournament in the UK, with free-to-air coverage through its app, and Broadcast Sport spoke to its director of cricket, Bryan Henderson, about its plans last month

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said: “Our ambition for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is to make it the biggest women’s sporting event ever. We want to design the event as an aggregate of fan-focused experiences serving as a platform for creativity, commerce, community and culture. From attention-grabbing activations to immersive experiences aimed at deepening affiliation, there is something relevant for every fan journey.

“We want to bring fans closer to the game than ever before and create more opportunities for people to discover, follow and fall in love with women’s cricket. These initiatives will help continue building the global momentum behind the women’s game. In doing so, we want to ensure the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 leaves a lasting legacy felt by generations to come.”
