Two broadcasters reveals their plans for major rights, and EBU renews its World Rowing deal
beIN’s MENA LaLiga plans
beIN Sports has revealed its LaLiga plans in 24 markets across MENA.
All 380 games will be shown by the broadcaster in Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.
New for this year, the broadcaster will work with LaLiga to showcase the league’s LaLiga Fantasy video game, which EA Sports recently launched in Arabic. Details of how to play online, strategies for success, and details about the various prizes on offer will be shared across beIN’s social platforms.
For the live football, commentary will be available in Arabic, English, and French.
Viaplay brings back Premier Sunday
Nordic broadcaster Viaplay is bringing back its Premier Sunday programming for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Available across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands, Premier Sunday will again be hosted by Jules Breach and feature the likes of Peter Schmeichel, Freddie Ljungberg and Jaap Stam providing pre-match build-up, halftime analysis and post-match reaction live from inside stadiums. There will be local-language commentary of the fixtures in each territory.
This season will see 20 Premier Sunday broadcasts, up from 10 last time round.
EBU ties up World Rowing rights
The EBU has renewed it rights deal with World Rowing until the end of 2032.
This continues a partnership that has run since the 1980s, with the last four-year deal ending in 2024. It includes the World Rowing Championships, the European Rowing Championships and the annual World Rowing Cups series, as well as new competition the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals.
13 EBU Members are part of the renewed agreement, with 6 EBU Members committing to cover World Rowing events up until 2032, including: HRT (Croatia), CT (Czechia), ARD/ZDF (Germany), ERT (Greece), RTE (Ireland), RAI (Italy, San Marino and Vatican), NOS (The Netherlands), TVP (Poland), TVR (Romania), RTVE (Spain), SRG (Switzerland), and Suspilne Ukraine (Ukraine).

All at World Rowing are very pleased to be continuing this valued collaboration across our Championships and Series and both of our Olympic disciplines, with parts of the agreement extending as far as 2032. By providing World Rowing with greater flexibility to activate its media rights in the digital space, this enhanced agreement ensures strong exposure for our sport and helps us connect with both existing and new audiences across Europe.”
