Disney+ docuseries will follow SailGP team co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman
CBS acquires US WSL rights
CBS Sports has acquired the English-language rights to show the WSL in the US until the end of the 2029/30 season.
Paramount+ will become the home of the women’s football competition in the country, showing all 183 matches, with another one game-per-week on the CBS Sports Network and select matches also airing on CBS Sports Golazo Network.
The Golazo Network will also provide coverage of the WSL on its Attacking Third, Morning Footy, Golazo Matchday, and Scoreline shows, with extra content on CBSSports.com, the Golazo Starting XI newsletter, the Attacking Third podcast and across the @WGolazo social accounts.
Disney+ greenlights Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman SailGP docuseries
Disney+ has commissioned a docuseries following SailGP team Bonds Flying Roos and its famous co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
It will be produced by Reynolds’ Maximum Effort production company and Eureka Productions in partnership with SailGP and the team, with Brent Hodge serving as director and showrunner. Rob Mac, who co-owns AFC Wrexham with Reynolds and stars in a similar series about the football club and the pair’s ownership, will serve as an executive producer under his More Better Productions label.
The as yet untitled series will be available on Disney+ internationally and on Disney+ and Hulu in the US.
DAZN to show Canadian Football League globally
DAZN has acquired global rights to the Canadian Football League until the end of 2032.
Outside of North America, the broadcaster will show all CFL regular season games, playoff games and the Grey Cup for free, while in Canada it will be the exclusive broadcaster of all Saturday Night Football games at 7pm ET as well as two playoff games.
DAZN will produce the broadcasts, with its own on-air team as well as features such as FanZone live chat, dedicated fan spaces, highlights, breaking news, real-time Scores and original programming.
