ITVX will show MMA event Total Kombat 2 live on 13 September.

Created by a group of television producers and world champion martial artists - including British UFC standout Michael “Venom” Page (“MVP”), famous for his unorthodox striking style - Total Kombat is a promotion with an “all-striking” format: wrestling and ground fighting are prohibited, and athletes drawn from a global pool of Olympians, black belts and UFC veterans.

Taking place at the O2 Arena in London, the Total Kombat 2 event will be on air from 6:30pm, with Team GB karateka Jordan Thomas in the main event and former UFC fighter Dean Barry in the chief support slot. Commentary will be anchored by Paul Dempsey joined by US play-by-play specialist Ben “Bane” Davis and two-time Team GB Olympic medallist Bianca Walkden as backstage reporter.

Page’s new film production company In The Moment Productions (ITM) will also feature prominently with branding and creative integration throughout the broadcast.

After the live event a full replay will be available on ITVX. This is the first time it has shown a full contact martial arts event. beIN Sports is airing it in the US, with Triller TV holding the global rights.

Total Kombat president Lee Matthews said: “ITVX is one of the UK’s premier broadcast destinations and we’re proud to be partnering with a network of this stature for Total Kombat 2. The event is built to deliver non-stop highlights and entertainment and we’re excited to bring that experience to millions of households across the country on Saturday 13 September.”

Page said, “I’ve created some of the most viral moments in combat sports history and a lot of that is down to my karate background. Total Kombat is a platform for the new generation of martial arts strikers to showcase themselves. I’d definitely have fought here if it existed when I was beginning my rise and I think it’s going to be a huge hit with fans.”

Richard Botchway, commissioning editor at ITV, said: “We’re excited to bring all of the action of Total Kombat live from London on ITVX this Saturday. Total Kombat displays the very best athletes in underground combat sports and we’re delighted to partner with them in a first for ITVX.”
