The Paris Saint-Germain vs Olympique de Marseille clash in Kuwait will feature real-time French-to-Italian translation by CAMB.AI on Ligue 1+
The Trophée des Champions, which is being held in Kuwait on 8 January, will become the first European football match to feature live AI-translated commentary.
The annual Trophée des Champions sees the champions of Ligue 1 play the winners of the Coupe de France.
Fans in Italy will be able to listen live to Italian language commentary, translated from French, as the action happens on D2C streaming service Ligue 1+.
The live translation will be created in real-time by CAMB.AI.
This year’s Trophée des Champions is between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille and is being held at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City.
Kick off will be at 19:00 Italian time, and at 21:00 local time.
Ligue 1+ has warned viewers that, due to the automatically generated nature of the translation, “the quality and consistency of the output may vary. The technology is still a work in progress, and viewers are encouraged to keep this in mind while viewing the stream.”
