The Emmy Award-winning documentary series uncovers remarkable and largely untold tales from European football history

Noah Media Group’s Emmy Award-winning documentary series UEFA Extraordinary Stories is being broadcast on TNT Sports this week.
The series showcases some of the most remarkable stories in European football history, including about Northern-Irish one-armed footballer Jimmy Hasty, the pioneering women of Turbine Potsdam and the career of two-time European Cup winner Miodrag Belodedici.
The film, One-Armed Wonder: The Extraordinary Story of Jimmy Hasty, directed by Richard Milway, was named Outstanding Short Documentary at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards in New York and also claimed the Jury Prize at the Sportel Awards.
The six films that make up the series to date are scheduled to be shown tomorrow (Tuesday 13 October), Wednesday and Thursday, alongside the broadcaster’s live UEFA football programming.
The series is still in production, with Noah Media Group currently producing its next instalment in Australia.
Richard Milway, director, Noah Media Group, said: “These films are focused equally on the lives off the pitch as they are about the achievements on it. They are huge, often life-changing stories for those who feature, whilst at the same time being virtually unknown to even the biggest football fan.
It has been a privilege to help bring these stories to the screen for UEFA and to now see them on TNT Sports.
John McKenna, CEO, Noah Media Group, adds: “When UEFA first came to us with the brief, it was a dream job - find the most extraordinary stories in the history of European football and bring them to life. Over the past three years, we’ve travelled across the continent and beyond, meeting remarkable people and uncovering stories that deserve to be told.
“Winning the Emmy was a wonderful recognition of the talent and ambition behind these films. We’re hugely grateful to UEFA for their longstanding partnership and continued trust, and to TNT Sports for recognising the opportunity to bring these stories to a wider UK audience and giving them such prominent slots around their football coverage. It’s a real testament to the quality of the work everyone has produced.”
