Whisper’s Dominic Gresset, Sunset+Vine’s Nick Moody, AJA’s Andy Bellamy, and Globecast’s Steve MacMurray speak about what’s next

Broadcast Sport Content Summit 2026

AI and personalised broadcasts could be the future of live sport, according to guests on the most recent Broadcast Sport Podcast

Recorded at the Broadcast Sport Content Summit at dock10 Studios in March, the episode sees host Erin MacTague speak to Whisper’s Dominic Gresset, Sunset+Vine’s Nick Moody, AJA’s Andy Bellamy, and Globecast’s Steve MacMurray about what they expect to be next for sport broadcasting. You can listen to the full episode below.

The group cover a wide range of topics, including virtualisation of kit, more remote production, AR experiences, and even whether viewers actually want these changes. One area on which they agreed was that AI will continue to have an effect, and we are likely to see more options for personalisation of viewers’ feeds.

On the latter, Moody said, “One of the really popular things that we have on Prime [Video] is that you can have the option of turning the commentary off. Obviously, we don’t want to do that with John Champion and Alan Shearer, but people like that and you’re now giving people that option.”

Gresset added, “In tennis, camera one is always camera one, but what we’ve trialled in the past on tennis is two different feeds. One from a court side position, and one from the traditional camera one, because when you’re watching tennis, everyone says it doesn’t feel like you’re there.

“You don’t see the speed, the dynamism of the players, the ball over the ball going over the net, the height of it and the energy. So we had a different camera angle, you still got all the replays, all the close ups, all the graphics and everything, it was just a cross point difference on the vision mixer.

“We sent out two feeds and…38% of people were viewing the coverage from the low angle. I thought it would be maybe be 10 or 15%, but they were staying there and they were watching it from that. So it wasn’t a gimmick and I think, maybe in other sports, there’s an opportunity there.”
