Premier Sports has extended and expanded its Copa Del Rey rights.

It will show the Spanish cup football competition for the next three seasons in Ireland and the UK, and will now air matches from the round of 32 onwards. The broadcaster acquired the rights to the competition for the first time last season, but only aired the semi-finals and final

Premier Sports is also the main broadcaster of the Spanish top flight, LaLiga, and its second division, in the UK, signing a new three-year deal for the competition earlier this year

The first fixtures to be shown by Premier Sports this season will be on 16 and 17 December, with CD Guadalajara vs FC Barcelona at 8pm on 16 December on Premier Sports 1, plus CD Atlético Baleares vs Atlético de Madrid at 6pm on Premier Sports 2 and CF Talavera de la Reina vs Real Madrid CF at 8pm on Premier Sports 1 on 17 December.

Premier Sports CEO Richard Sweeney commented: “Securing coverage of the Copa del Rey further affirms Premier Sports as the home of Spanish football. Copa del Rey is an exciting tournament with incredible storylines showcasing the stars of Spanish football alongside an array of emerging young talents.”
