The biopic will launch later in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon Prime Video has revealed the teaser trailer for Amazon Originals Maradona biopic, Maradona: Blessed Dream.

Set to be released on the platform in the UK and 240 other territories later this year, the series was filmed on location in Argentina, Spain, Italy, Uruguay and Mexico and features 10 one-hour episode following the footballer’s life. 

Produced by BTF Media, in coproduction with Dhana Media and Latin We, Maradona: Blessed Dream stars Nazareno Casero (Historia de un Clan), Juan Palomino (Magnifica 70) and Nicolas Goldschmidt (Supermax) portraying Diego Maradona at different points in his life. Julieta Cardinali (En Terapia, Valentin), Laura Esquivel (Patito Feo), Mercedes Morán (Diarios de Motocicleta), Pepe Monje (Amor en Custodia) and Peter Lanzani (El Clan) also feature prominently. 

Alejandro Aimetta is showrunner and director of the episodes filmed in Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay, and also one of the show’s writers alongside Guillermo Salmerón (El Marginal) and Silvina Olschansky (El Marginal). Roger Gual and Edoardo De Angelis directed episodes in Spain and Italy, respectively.

Meanwhile, the executive producers are Francisco Cordero, Liliana Moyano, Mari Urdaneta, Ricardo Coeto and Luis Balaguer.

The series will portray Maradona’s key role in Argentina’s 1986 World Cup win, as well as his humble beginnings in the town of Fiorito, his time in European football at the likes of Napoli and Barcelona, and his later life.
