Documentary on 1972 Cup Winners’ Cup winning side to arrive on 17 June
Feature documentary film Rangers72 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 17 June.
Rangers72 tells the story of Rangers’ Cup Winners’ Cup winning side of 1972, which famously defeated Dynamo Moscow at Barcelona’s Nou Camp to lift the trophy and earn themselves the nickname “Barca Bears”.
The film is produced by The City Talking, directed by Giuseppe De Luca, and executive produced by Lee Hicken. It features interviews with the key players and never-before-seen fan footage of the trip to Barcelona, and was made with assistance from Rangers Football Club.
It is the third The City Talking production to be acquired by Prime Video, after Take Us Home: Leeds United, following the now Premier League side’s journey to the top flight, and As Good As It Gets? - which follows Leeds Rhinos rugby league side in their treble-winning 2015 season.

Hicken, who is also founder of The City Talking, said: “We are really happy to continue our relationship with Prime Video and to see the film being made available to Prime members. This is a special story and we want it to be seen by as many people as possible.”
James Bisgrove, commercial and marketing director at Rangers, added: “The remarkable achievements of the ‘Barca Bears’ in 1972 will forever be a remembered as a defining moment in the club’s rich 150 year history.’
“This May marked the 50th anniversary of their famous victory and it felt fitting for us to reach the 2022 UEFA Europa League Final, with Rangers supporters following the club in record numbers across Europe on this brilliant journey back to Spain.’
“We’re delighted to work with Prime Video to make the iconic Rangers72 movie available to supporters and the wider football community.’’
