London City Lionesses v Manchester United will kick off the season at 7pm on 4 September
Sky Sports has unveiled plans to show six fixtures from the WSL’s opening weekend.
The season will kick off with London City Lionesses v Manchester United at 7pm on Friday 4 September, which will be followed by the broadcaster showing five games on Sunday 6 September. In addition, the BBC will show Chelsea v Aston Villa at 12:30pm on Saturday 5 September.
The WSL has expanded from 12 to 14 teams for the 2026/27 season, which means that Sky Sports will now air 163 live matches across the season - 45 more than 2025/26. 108 of those are exclusive to Sky Sports, which also has 77% of first picks. The BBC will air 25 matches across the season, with the others shown on YouTube.

- Manchester City v Birmingham City @ 14:30, Sun 6 September, Sky Sports
The BBC and Sky Sports share the Play-Off and the Players Cup Final, and all games on the final weekend (22-23 May) will be shown by Sky Sports.
These matches are part of the five-year rights deals the WSL agreed with Sky Sports and the BBC in 2024.
Caroline Barker will lead Sky’s presentations, with Izzy Christiansen and Rachel Corsie as regular analysts, Ellen Ellard as lead commentator and Eleanor Roper as reporter.
