Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed viewership of the men’s Tour de France grew on all of its platforms in 2022.

The broadcaster offered viewers access to every minute of all 21 stages of the Tour de France through uninterrupted streaming on discovery+, the Eurosport App and GCN+ in addition to television coverage on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, with fans able to see Jonas Vingegaard win the general classification.

It was an impressive year for linear viewing, with the 2022 Tour the best overall pan-Europe Tour de France television performance for five years with record audiences in markets including France, Spain and Norway. Across Europe viewership on Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 rose by 23% versus 2021.

Meanwhile, streaming also saw continued growth, with discovery+ growing its Tour de France audience by five times compared to 2021. Overall, streaming across all platforms, except GCN+ as it also offers coverage outside of Europe, rose by 32% year-on-year.

In addition, total video minutes watched by fans grew by 40% year on year, with a 50% increase in media starts on the Eurosport website.

Warner Bros. Discovery is now broadcasting the Tour de France Femme through the same platforms, with the race set to end on 31 July.
