The combined viewing share of the channels for which BSkyB acts as sales agent - including Discovery channels and those run by Emap, publisher of Broadcast - has risen by 40 per cent over the past year, according to Sky chief operating officer Richard Freudenstein.
In a speech last week in which the leading Sky executive sought to present Sky as an opportunity rather than a threat to advertisers, he claimed that in the first two months of 2002 multichannel overtook ITV 1 to become the biggest provider of commercial audiences among men aged 16 to 34.
