Original writers Peter Richardson and Pete Richens will reunite with regulars Rik Mayall and Nigel Planer for a brand new film, made by Great Western Features, exploring life in middle class suburbia.

Mayall takes on the role of a self-important conceptual artist married to a stern and successful businesswoman, played by Doon Mackichan.

The cast also includes Sheridan Smith, Tamer Hassan, Rebecca Front, Phil Cornwell and Glenna Scacchi Morrison.

Over the years Comic Strip Presents... launched the careers of a raft of alternative comedians, including Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.

The first edition was Enid Blyton spoof Five Go Mad In Dorset and the 37th and last instalment was When in a Plane, which screened in 1999. It transferred to the BBC for three years during the 90s before returning to C4 in 1998.

The unnamed new film will be executive produced by Cleo Rocos Smith and directed by Richardson.
