Andy Auerbach and Shane Allen will take commissioning roles from next month, in entertainment and comedy respectively. The pair replace former commissioning editors Iain Morris, who left in June to write for TV, and Robert Popper, who left the channel earlier this year.

Auerbach becomes commissioning editor, entertainment, reporting to head of entertainment Andrew Newman. He joins after a three-year stint at indie Shine, where he was creative director in the London and the Los Angeles offices. Before that he was a development executive at Planet 24 where he worked on The Big Breakfast and The Word.

Allen, meanwhile, has been appointed comedy editor, reporting to Caroline Leddy, head of comedy and comedy film.

He recently worked as a development producer for Talkback and directed the HBO special Ali G in the USAiii as well as producing Channel 4's Does Doug Know?. He has also written for the BBC comedy quiz show Shooting Stars and Channel 4's Brass Eye.
