Celebrities including Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby are to feature in a Channel 5 factual entertainment series documenting the work of the Starlight Children’s Foundation charity.
The 10 x 30-minute series, Starlight: For The Children, has been produced by indies BoxClever TV and Luminous Television, and funded entirely by Blockbuster Entertainment.
Cotton and Willoughby, along with other celebrities including David Coulthard, will be shown alongside members of the public doing good deeds in aid of the charity in the series, which will follow the everyday work of the Starlight team and the ill children that it supports. Actor Bill Nighy will narrate.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation grants seriously unwell children once-in-a-lifetime wishes, with Blockbuster building on its ongoing support of the charity by agreeing to fund the production.
Greg Barnett, C5’s commissioning editor for entertainment, daytime and soaps, who ordered the series, said he hoped it would result in viewers getting involved in charitable work themselves.
“This is an exciting and inspiring commission for C5 and comes at a time when many may be motivated to help,” he said.
